Olympic Fever

You know, sometimes the Olympics don't grab me at all, and sometimes I'm riveted to the TV. This is one of those years. The drama, the glitter, the excitement. The wonders of modern technology which allow me to watch events taking place in Salt Lake City and marvel at the grace and agility of world-class athletes while drinking cider and eating pizza on my comfy brown couch. It's a wonderful world.

I'm going to Florida next weekend. It seems like originally there was a reason for that, but the reason went away, and now I have two gigs and a road trip to Florida for no reason. But that was my New Year's resolution, right? To play out of town more? Reason enough, I suppose.

After five years without it, I finally have TV. Cable TV. And it's just as I feared; leaving the house no longer seems nearly as appealing as it once did. I'm too busy catching up with friends I haven't seen in years! Buffy has been super-busy, and my how Willow's grown! And Rory and Lorelai are even cuter than I remembered, and Stars Hollow hasn't changed a bit! And that silly Space Ghost, up to his old tricks. Ah, TV. How I've missed thee.

In addition to the cable TV, there is a another new member of the Lindsay Smith household. I got an electric guitar! It's a Danelectro with a built-in fuzzbox (called "the Dan-O-Blaster") and a sticker that I'm never taking off ("Built-In Distortion!") and little chunks of glitter that make it look like a formica table top. But the real surprise here is that it actually sounds quite good! Certainly a bargain for under $75, eh what? Now I can put together my top-secret rock and roll project (sssh!) and learn to play with my new guitar slung real low and sexy. Oh, yeah. Playing pretty folk songs is nice and all, but I'm still always happiest when I'm pretending I'm in an 80's video.

I got a short but sweet CD review this month; check it out on GoGirls.
