Boneless Chicken

I had a nice moment at my guitar lesson on Wednesday. I've been working on a song for the Renaissance Festival, one that won't be an annoying protest song but an actual good song, and it hasn't been working out the way I'd like it to. I was talking to Matthew about why this might be and said, "I want the riddles to be more clever. Like that song - you know the one - 'I gave my love a boneless chicken'." I thought Matthew was going to hit the floor laughing. But I really couldn't remember how the song went!

You know, somebody asked me to protest boneless chicken last weekend, but I don't remember if he had a reason.

And speaking of boneless chicken (I'm segué queen today, yeah?), my adventures in cooking have been going pretty well! True, I've only made two dinners and one batch of cookies so far (and cookies don't really count), but so far, everyone's liked the food, and nobody's died or anything, so I'm calling my first forays into the world of cooking an unqualified success. I would like to take this opportunity to give my friend Susanne a big shout-out for referring me to two cooking sites: Allrecipes.com and Recipezaar.com. I'm finding tons of delicious-looking low-fat recipes to try (though I am not yet finding the time to try them all).

If you'd like to laugh at my favorite link that anyone's e-mailed me all month, go here. (You may think I'm abandoning my "chicken" train of thought, but I'm not. If you click on the link, you'll see why.)

Goober Gossip Corner: Remember my friends Elizabeth and Tracy from last month's entry? Well, they're going to have a baby!!! Elizabeth called me last night with the news. I'm thrilled for them. Also, I feel old. Elizabeth is almost exactly my age; our mothers were pregnant with us at the same time, and we've literally been friends for our entire lives. How can we be old enough for Elizabeth to be having a baby??? She's supposed to give birth the day after a planned holiday party at her house, and I'd bet money that she'll find a way to do both. She's ambitious like that.

In Renaissance Festival news, I got to throw spitballs at King Henry on Monday. That was fun. More importantly, my friends Three Quarter Ale and The Lost Boys both have new CD's out! They're so new that there's nothing to link to yet, but they'll both be available for online purchase soon. You may not be excited about that yet, but believe me, if you heard these great CD's, you would be! I've been playing them both non-stop.

As for my own CD, what can I tell you? I'm still working on it, though I've had to take a break for the Ren Fest and also so my lovely recording engineer, Lee, could finish up a CD for her band, What The...? (check 'em out).

I know this is a short entry, but all my stories from this month are silly and make me look dumb, so I'm quitting now. To misquote Three Quarter Ale, "Shalom and farewell, I've got to get back to my job."
