Return From Swannanoah
Welcome to my diary! This part of the site is going to get a lot cooler when I have a little more time, I hope. With graphics and archives and links and everything. Like Pamie's journal or Kymm's. For now it's just another newsletter...
I just got back from The Swannanoah Gathering in Asheville, NC. It was a great thing to be able to concentrate on music for a solid week. After a while it doesn't seem strange that everyone has a guitar. It seems like that's the way the world is. Imagine: a world where everyone carries a guitar and writes songs and sits around singing old country tunes, a world where you work on a song all morning and then go to the dining hall where your meal has already been prepared for you. I definitely could have gotten used to that.
I've come back home with a brain full of good advice and good information; now it's just a matter of putting it to use. And the amount of talent there! Y'all, it was incredible! I've come home with a lot of work to do, and I'm looking forward to diving in and seeing what happens. I've been feeling like I've been making everything up as I go along; it's nice to have some concrete information, some rules to look at. At least now when I break the rules I'll realize that's what I'm doing.
Friday night I get to go play at Java House in Conyers. I'm excited! I've wanted to go check it out before Friday, but something has always come up to prevent me from going. I've definitely got the Sept. 9 music festival on my calendar; that looks like a lot of fun.
