Fall Again
Ah, the end of August. That time of year when my fancy turns to thoughts of school supplies. I really want a backpack. The other night I had a dream that I went to buy one, and I found a store that had the coolest backpacks I’d ever seen! They had cartoon characters on them and all these extra buttons and zippers and secret compartments and stuff. Like, you could unzip the Tasmanian Devil’s mouth and his tongue would pop out. Man, I was so disappointed when I woke up from that one.
I did get a new planner, though. Powerpuff Girls! I can’t deal with the Dawson’s Creek theme anymore. That show has just gotten so bad that I can’t even love to hate it anymore. Even Joey can bite me with her whiny passive-aggressive bullshit. I’ve moved on.
I’m trying to decide what to do with the little bit of money I’ve saved up. I was going to put a poll right on this page and let you guys vote, but I’m afraid I’m not up to the task of coding that. Should I A) fly to New York to visit Lucy, B) spend it on radio promotion, C) get an electric guitar or D) keep it in my savings account, secure in the knowledge that my car will break down again soon? I’m leaning towards D....
I got to watch T.V. at Betty’s house last night while simultaneously taking advantage of the opportunity to do laundry for free. (I’m in charge of feeding Moggy the Gray Grump for a few days while she’s on Martha’s Vineyard.) That Angel show is really pretty good. The episode last night featured a girl with telekinesis, and I’ve always had a thing about that. I was obsessed with Courteney Cox’s character on Misfits of Science. I also had this great book in fifth grade called The Girl With the Silver Eyes. I must have read that book a million times. It would be so cool to be able to move things just by looking at them. Especially if you got to fling bad guys around like the girl on Angel did. (It just now occurred to me to wonder why it’s always girls who have telekinesis in these things. Do guys not have that particular fantasy? Must research this.)
I would love to think I’ve had more on my mind than backpacks and T.V. However, I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve been writing songs. Doing laundry. Going out. Chasing boys. The usual.
Come to the Red Light Café on Sunday night. There will be cute girls there! There will be cute guys there! I’ll play new songs! I’ll stay in tune! (OK, I can’t promise that last one.)
