Wedding Season
Used to be, spring was wedding time, but now it seems to be fall. All the cool kids are doin' it. This weekend I get to be a bridesmaid in a pretty green dress. Yea! Plus I get to go home to lovely Fredericksburg and see everybody - that'll be fun. I've just realized that this is the second time I've been a bridesmaid at the wedding of a high school friend marrying a Marine. And what's funny is that the two situations (not the mention the two friends and the two Marines) couldn't be more different. Ah, life. Always the little kidder.
I did a songwriters in the round thing at Java House on Saturday. That was so much fun! I've always wanted to do one of those. It's nice to have people on the stage to play with, and plus I think it's more interesting for the audience than just listening to one person all night.
Also, I have a band! Well, OK, sort of. But still! Everything sounds better with bass, man. And then if you have an electric guitar, suddenly you don't have to call yourself a folk singer anymore; you can claim you're a rock star! Yeah! Or just look like one. Yeah! Barbizon Music School.
Now, of course, the onus is on me to get us some gigs. I have nothing lined up, and that's sorta depressing. I'm still waiting on some supplies for my kick-ass press kits - not to mention more CD's. Then, THEN, I will take over the world. After my nap. I'm gonna need somewhere to put all those CD's, I'm realizing now. Anyone want a computer, circa 1988, runs DOS? Anyone? Bueller? I need to create space.
I found a pink prom dress in my closet that I forgot I had. It's actually not mine, but I haven't seen the girl it belongs to in about 8 years, so the odds of her wanting it back at this point are looking pretty slim. It doesn't fit, but I'm thinking it might be perfect for Halloween purposes. I could rip it a little and put fake blood all over it and be Carrie. Yeah! They're all gonna laugh at me...
