FAVORITE VENUES

Eddie’s Attic, Decatur, GA - Atlanta’s premier acoustic venue
Java House, Conyers, GA - Coolest little coffee house ever – one of my favorite places to hear live music and definitely one of my favorite places to play
Crimson Moon Coffeehouse, Dahlonega, GA - To step into the Crimson Moon is to be whisked away from all care and sorrow into a relaxing and colorful world of art, music, and hot tea
IF Coffeehouse, Atlanta, GA - A basement coffeehouse where you never know what’s going to happen
10 High, Atlanta, GA - Rock club under the Dark Horse Tavern – home of the release party for Were You Prom Queen? on March 13th, 2004!
Sacred Grounds, Tampa, FL - Everything you want in a coffeehouse: great music, great atmosphere, great people, and an independent spirit
Sweet Heaven, Asheville, NC - I thought I’d be playing in a tiny corner by the ice cream display, but no! It’s a real venue with a big stage, great regulars, and great folks behind the counter.

FESTIVALS

GA Renaissance Festival - Lindsay Smith is Joni Minstrel, Village Protest Singer
MWC Multicultural Fair - Has it all – dance, music, art, cheap jewelry, nice jewelry, and exotic food (bonus: most of it is fried); a regular stop on Lindsay Smith’s spring tours
FloydFest - New festival in the lovely VA mountains, can only get better! Past headliners include Nickel Creek and Dar Williams
Stitching Stars Storytelling Festival - Lindsay headlines in March of 2004

RESOURCES FOR MUSICIANS

The Young Writers Workshop - For young people who are thinking about becoming writers – this is where Lindsay got her start by enrolling in the songwriting workshop at age 13
Augusta Heritage Festival - For anyone who wants to learn more about traditional folk music; this festival is set in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia
Swannanoah - A music festival that has a Contemporary Folk week for aspiring singer/songwriters
Indiegrrl - If you’re a girl making music without the help of a label, this is for you
CDBaby - Best online independent record store out there (I’ve looked)
GoGirls - Another network of cool female musicians
CafePress - If you want people to be able to order anything in the world with your logo on it without your having to make it yourself, check these guys out
Contagious Graphics - Great prices and friendly service on stickers and t-shirts

FRIENDS AND CO-HORTS

Speechless - They play instrumental rock, which is to say that they're a bunch of show-offs, but you know what? They actually have it to show off! These guys will blow your mind. (Disclaimer: I'm sleeping with the drummer.)
Kenny Howes - Kenny’s one of the best guitar players I know, and he produced my latest album! He used to live in Atlanta but moved to L.A. to work for Rickenbacker (his dream come true).
What The…? - Lee Flier did the recording for the new album, and Lyle played some bass, so these power poppers are officially part of the Lindsay Smith family now.
The Lost Boys - Now in their second incarnation, the "Boys in Teal" bring rock 'n roll to the Renaissance.
Three Quarter Ale - I don’t know what they drink to stay so funny and cool, but I want some.
The Brobdingnagian Bards - Full-time minstrels, which might be what makes them so loopy, goofy, nutty, and fun! If you dig Celtic, Filk, or Renaissance Festival music, you absolutely must check out Marc's Renaissance Festival Podcast.
Erin McKeown - Erin went to my high school, which gives me great vicarious pride in her career, since I've been able to watch its progress since she was 14 years old. She’s The Real Deal as far as singer/songwriters go.
Leslie Berry - Leslie has one of my favorite press quotes ever: "like a polite catfight between Paula Cole and Tori Amos."
Mac Ritchey - Mac produced my first album, Tales From the Fruitbat Vat, which was an experience I will never forget. I’d recommend him to anyone who wants a great-sounding record.
Craig of Farrington - A buddy of mine from the Ren Fest, Craig appears on "The Ersatz Bluegrass Band" from the new album.
The Arts and Sciences - Lead singer and songwriter Paul Melancon and I have friends in common, which is all that keeps me from "scary stalker" status because I really, really love his music.

FUN SITES

Television Without Pity - Warning: extremely addictive! Reading the recaps of the shows you hate is even more fun than reading the recaps of the shows you love.
Tomato Nation - One of my favorite writers on the web, Sarah Bunting, serves up biting social commentary, ramblings, and advice for the lovelorn (as well as the just generally lorn)
Pamie - Pamie is another of my favorite writers on the web. Reading her journey from struggling actor in Austin, TX to struggling writer/actor in L.A. has been inspiring and entertaining.
Salon - If you think liberals are what’s wrong with this country, stay far away from this site. But if you like intelligent movie reviews and are terrified at the prospect of four more years of Bush, you might find yourself enjoying a daily dose of Salon.
Entertainment Weekly - You can only access the site if you get the magazine. Since I can’t imagine life without this magazine, that’s not a problem for me.
Live365 - There is nothing I love more in this world than a great mix tape, and this site is like having thousands of mix tapes at your fingertips from people you’ve never even met! (Make sure to check out Radio KIRA while you’re there; you’ll hear tunes from Lindsay and some of her musical friends and co-horts from Atlanta.)
