More Lindsay Smith

Lindsay's Blog
If you want more than just music news, the rest is all here (when I'm not too busy to post).
Lindsay's MySpace
Needs updating, but I'll get to it eventually...

Favorite Atlanta Area Venues

Eddie's Attic
Atlanta’s premier acoustic venue
10 High
Rock club under the Dark Horse Tavern in VA Highlands – home of the release party for Were You Prom Queen? on March 13th, 2004 and one of the few rock clubs in Atlanta still booking local bands. (Although I would be remiss if I didn't also recommend their live band karaoke, which is a REALLY good time.)
The Crimson Moon
To step into the Crimson Moon in Dahlonega, GA is to be whisked away from all care and sorrow into a relaxing and colorful world of art, music, and hot tea.
Georgia Renaissance Festival
Lindsay Smith is Joni Minstrel, Village Protest Singer
IF Coffeehouse
A basement coffeehouse in Atlanta where you play for tips, the homeless guys make requests, and you never know what’s going to happen...

Resources for Musicians

Indiegrrl
If you’re a female musician making a go at a music career without the help of a label, this site is for you.
GoGirls
I've made great friends through this online community of female musicians. GoGirls also sponsors music showcases and other networking opportunities.
CDBaby
There are a lot of online music stores out there that will sell independent artists' CDs. CDBaby is by far the best.
Contagious Graphics
Great prices and friendly service on stickers and t-shirts
Cafe Press
If you want your fans to be able to order anything in the world with your logo on it without having to commit to a minimum order, check out this site.
UVA Young Writers Workshop
A summer workshop for young people who are thinking about becoming writers, this is where Lindsay got her start by enrolling in the songwriting workshop at age 13.
The Swannanoah Gathering
This summer music festival has a Contemporary Folk week for aspiring singer/songwriters.

Musical Friends & Co-Horts

Speechless
They play instrumental rock, which is to say that they're a bunch of show-offs, but you know what? They actually have it to show off! These guys will blow your mind. (Disclaimer: I'm sleeping with the drummer.)
Three Quarter Ale
Friends from the Renaissance Festival, they play great music and put on great shows. Dolph Amick (a.k.a. Wicked Pete Speakeasy) produced my latest album.
Kenny Howes
Kenny’s one of the best guitar players I know, and he produced Were You Prom Queen? for me. He used to live in Atlanta but moved to L.A. to work for Rickenbacker. It's his dream job, but I do miss hearing him play live.
What The...?
Lee Flier did the recording for Were You Prom Queen?, and Lyle played some bass, so these power poppers are officially part of the Lindsay Smith family now.
Juliana Finch
She's based in Atlanta, and she is great! Her last album blew me away, and I can't wait for the next one. See her with the full band if you can; it's a great show.
Paul Melancon
Paul Melancon and I have friends in common, which is all that keeps me from "scary stalker" status because I really, really love his music.
Erin McKeown
Erin went to my high school, which gives me great vicarious pride in her career, since I've been able to watch her musical progress since she was 14 years old. She’s The Real Deal as far as singer/songwriters go.
Leslie Berry
Leslie has one of my favorite press quotes ever: "like a polite catfight between Paula Cole and Tori Amos."
Kelly Buchanan
Kelly is one of my absolute favorite musicians I've had the privelege to meet in person. (She totally slept at my house, y'all!) Great rock music, great lyrics, phenomenal voice - I love this girl!
Mac Ritchey
Mac produced my first album, Tales From the Fruitbat Vat, which was an experience I will never forget. He's focusing more on his own music than on producing right now, but I’d still recommend him to anyone who wants a great-sounding record.

Random Fun Stuff

Television Without Pity
Warning: extremely addictive! Reading the recaps of the shows you hate is even more fun than reading the recaps of the shows you love.
Tomato Nation
One of my favorite writers on the web, Sarah Bunting, serves up biting social commentary, ramblings, and advice for the lovelorn (as well as the just generally lorn).
Pamie.com
Pamie is another of my favorite writers on the web. Reading her journey from struggling actor in Austin, TX to struggling writer/actor in L.A. has been inspiring and entertaining.
Cake Wrecks
One of my weird obsessions is fancy cakes, so one of my favorite blogs is this one about professionally made cakes gone horribly, hilariously wrong.
